Journalists in Kwara State celebrate IGP Egbetokun

Journalists in Kwara State weekend poured encomiums on the new inspector-general of police (IGP), Mr Kayode Egbetokun, describing him as a fine officer and gentleman.
The journalists took turns to highlight the virtues of Egbetokun at a dinner organised in his honour by the spokesman of the Kwara State Police Command, Okasanmi Ajayi.
LEADERSHIP reports that Egbetokun had served in Kwara State as police commissioner.
At the event, the chairman of the state’s council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ahmed AbdulLateef described Egbetokun as a diligent and energetic officer who discharged his duties with all sense of responsibility when he served as police commissioner in the state.
He charged men and officers of Kwara State Police Command to continue to serve diligently to enable them reach the pinnacle of their profession like Egbetokun.
In their contributions, a former chairman of NUJ in the state, Alhaji Tunde Akanbi , a former NUJ secretary, Elder Wole Adedeji, Mr Gbenga Olarinoye of Champion Newspapers, a former vice chairman of NUJ, Alhaji Muhideen Aliyu and Alhaji Abdullahi Olesin of LEADERSHIP extolled the virtues of the new inspector general of police.
They also praised the spokesman of the police in the state, Okasanmi Ajayi, for his cool headedness, dedication and commitment to duties, praying God to further elevate him.
The journalists also prayed for accelerated promotion for the deputy commissioner of police, Adekimi Ojo, whom they described as a hardworking, diligent and friendly officer.
In a brief remark, DCP Ojo commended journalists in the state for projecting the image of the police, adding that,” without you we cannot achieve anything. We are part of you. This place is your place, feel free to come to this place at all times.”
He thanked the organiser of the event, Okasanmi Ajayi for his kind gesture.
Ajayi thanked journalists for honouring the invitation and thanked them for their support for the police.
He called on journalists across the country to support the new inspector- general of police in his avowed determination to make the country safe for all to live.
