The Chairman/Managing Director of Lee Engineering Group and Allied Companies Limited, Agbonjagwe Ikpea, has laid the foundation of a modern health facility in his home town, Ewatto, in Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State.

Addressing his people, the business mogul, who will drive the project with the Agbonjagwe Leeman Ikpea Foundation, said the gesture is in line with his belief in giving back to society.

He also said that he was driven by the passion to help his people having been blessed by God.

Ikpea said he decided to undertake the project after it occurred to him that his home town lacked a good health facility that could take care of the health needs of his people.

He said the facility when completed would reduce the burden the people bear in seeking medical services in neighbouring cities or towns.

Ikpea added that the modern health facility that is solely funded by him is going to be equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment, with an administrative block and theatre.

He said, “I am laying the foundation of a modern health centre here in Ewatto. It is going to have 62 beds and an administrative block too. I am sure that when this project is completed, it will solve the problem faced by my people in the community.

“They will no longer travel to distant places to seek medical attention, but they will have it here. By the time this project is also completed, it will open up this community. People from other neighbouring cities and towns will come here for their health needs.”

He appealed to the people of the community to provide a friendly environment for those working on the project for them to complete it in record time.

The project contractor, Anthony Igini, said the facility would have children, male, female, maternity, and emergency wards and would be completed in eight months.

Present at the ceremony were Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and his wife Idia, the Medical Director of the Irrua Specialist Hospital, Professor Reuben Eifediyi. and His Royal Highness, Osagie Ikhumhen, the Onojie of Ewatto kingdom.

Others were His Royal Highness, Ehizojie Abumere II, the Onojie of Ekpoma kingdom and His Royal Highness, Ehizojie Aluojierior II, the Onojie of Igueben.
