Kwara monarch still in captivity

‘Escape’ Report Is Fake News, Say Family

Reports circulating on certain news platforms claiming that the kidnapped Kwara monarch, Alhaji Kamilu Salami, the Ojibara of Bayagan, has dramatically escaped from his abductors are categorically false, according to multiple close sources within the royal family.

The widely circulated news of an alleged escape, which has caused a wave of temporary relief and confusion in the Bayagan community, has been officially debunked by those closest to the situation, who confirmed the traditional ruler remains in the custody of his captors as of Monday evening.

One of the sources source, said: “The stories of the Ojibara of Bayagan escaping are completely untrue and are causing unnecessary anxiety and complication for the family and security operatives,” the source stated.

“The monarch is still being held, and we appeal to the public and media outlets to cease circulating this unverified news,” he stated.

The family further stressed that such fake news severely impedes the delicate process of securing the monarch’s safe and swift return.

Recall that Alhaji Kamilu Salami, the Ojibara of Bayagan, was abducted from his farm in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State on Saturday morning. His abductors have since contacted the community and demanded N100 million ransom for his release.
