The Bring Back Our Light (BBOL) group in Ondo State has alerted residents in Okitipupa, Irele, Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas to keep off electrical cables and facilities, to avert casualties.
The BBOL said that the electrical facilities being rehabilitated by the Federal Government to douse the 10 years power outage in the areas would be test-run and energised to dectect faults, any moment from now.
The warning was announced on Thursday in Okitipupa in a joint statement signed by Comrade Olumide Akinrinlola and Comrade Dare Omopariola, the BBOL Convener and Secretary of the Planning Committee, respectively.
“We notify all residents in Ondo South that there will be a pre-test and energising of the ongoing FG’s rehabilitation of electrical cables and facilities in the areas, to detect faults.
“We enjoin residents not to toy with these facilities since they have been turned to clothes driers, ropes and other purposes, because of the 10-year power outage,
“The pre-test shall start at Omotosho power plant to Ode-Aye through Okitipupa to Igbokoda and down to the riverine communities to the NDDC’s 33KVA plant,’’ the statement said.
The BBOL group has been in the forefront of advocating for the reconnection of Ondo South to the national grid, which was disconnected by the Benin-Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).
NAN also reports that the Federal Government took over the rehabilitation process in August through the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHCL).
