Election: NCRIB boss urges Nigerians to shun violence

By Elizabeth ADENUGA

The President, Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), Mr Shola Tinubu, on Friday urged Nigerians to shun violence during the general elections in the spirit of nationalism.

TBI Africa said Tinubu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos that violence would instill fear into the minds of many citizens and as such, prevent them from voting.

The NCRIB president pleaded with Nigerians not to fight at all but to remain cool, calm and to comport themselves well during and after the elections.

Tinubu, who is also the Managing Director, SCIB Nigeria Ltd., further called on Nigerian professionals in the underwriting industry to come out and vote massively, based on their conscience.

He said: “Shun malpractice at all times, in all places, before, during and after the elections.

“Citizens are advised to vote for only candidates that stand for righteousness, peace, joy, security, job creation, unity and progress of Nigerians’’.

The NCRIB chief also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security operatives and peacekeepers to ensure they do what was right and godly.

Tinubu said that if everybody was to do the right and godly thing, it would enable the country to have free, fair and credible elections.

NAN reports that the Presidential and National Assembly Elections will hold on Saturday, Feb. 16, while the Governorship and House of Assembly Elections are scheduled for March 2.
