Kebbi Govt. approves N154m financial backup to KEDCO

The Kebbi Government has approved the release of N154 million to Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) to enable it boost its revenue collection capacity and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply in the state.

Alhaji Abubakar Dakingari, Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Atiku Bagudu, in a statement issued on Monday in Birnin Kebbi, said the governor made the approval to enable KEDCO acquire more power from Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

“Gov. Atiku Bagudu has magnanimously approved the release of N154 million to KEDCO to boost its revenue base of acquiring power from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

“The Commissioner for Water Resources and Rural Development, Alhaji Nura Kangiwa made the statement on behalf of the state government as part of its effort to restoring regular electricity supply to people of the state.’’

Kangiwa explained that the incumbent administration of Bagudu had acknowledged the importance of electricity supply as the pillar of economic development and would continue to accord priority to the sector.

The commissioner affirmed that the state government would sustain providing financial backup to aid the revenue collection capacity of KEDCO to enable it discharge its duty of power distribution efficiently and effectively.

“We advise consumers of electricity to maintain regular payment of their bills to ensure the provision of electricity supply on 24-hour basis,” he pleaded.
