EEDC trains 12 in India

Mr Emeka Ezeh, Head, Communications, Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), says the company has sent 12 technical and engineering staff for training in India, to increase their understanding of the electricity sector and international best practices.

Ezeh said in a statement, made available to newsmen in Enugu on Tuesday, that the gesture was part of the management’s commitment to training and retraining of its workforce for improved service delivery.

He said that the staff members would undergo a two-week training programme in India, toward bringing about better operational practice and professional development.

“The ongoing training in India is intended to equip staff with increased understanding of the electricity sector and international best practices.

“At the end of the day, we expect the training to bring about better operational practice and improved service delivery to our esteemed customers,” he said.

The communication officer said the company was also committed to rewarding hard work, and had promoted 164 of its staff to higher positions.

He said a total of 178 staff members of the organisation received step increases, while 1,661 had their appointments confirmed.

According to him, these developments are in appreciation of staff performance after the 2018 Annual Performance Appraisal exercise.

“It is worthy of note that EEDC in 2017 adopted the Performance Management System as a means of measuring and evaluating the performance of its staff using Key Performance Indices.

“With this in place, every staff is objectively assessed by their supervisors at the end of the appraisal period, based on their laid down perimeters,’’ he said.===NAN
