10-year validity e-passport to be made

By Meletus EZE

Barring any last minute change, the enhanced 10-year validity e-passport will be made public on June 25, 2019 by the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, at its Ikoyi, Lagos office.

Making this known in statement in Abuja on Thursday (today), the Public Relations Officer, PRO, of NIS, Sunday James explained that consequent upon the exercise, the service would shut down the existing payment platform for the office to pave way for the new one.

James said, “Hence, the Ikoyi Passport office will only attend to passport applications for the enhanced e-Passport effective from the stated date.

“All pending applications in Ikoyi will be processed before the roll-out date.

“Alausa and FESTAC Passport offices will continue to issue the existing e-passport for applicants desirous of same.”
