NSCDC urges private guards to work in line with Security Act

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Enugu Command, has urged the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN) in Enugu to work in line with the Security Act.

The Commandant of the command, Mr Everistus Obiyo, gave the advice when the state executives of the association paid a courtesy visit to the command in Enugu on Friday.

Obiyo was represented by the Assistant Commandant in charge of the unit, Mr Abdullah Karfi.

The commandant noted that the association had been doing well and hoped they would continue, saying that the association had its own Act which is in line with the Security Act.

“Actually, NSCDC is a regulatory agency for Private Guards Companies nationwide. We register them, train and retrain them.

“We upgrade their licences; checkmate their general activities; so they are under our security unit known as PGC.

“This command always carries out routine monitoring and supervision. Tell them what to do and what not to do and enlighten them about the office generally.

“This association has its own Act that is in line with the Security Act they should upheld and operate in line with,’’ Obiyo said.

Earlier, the Chairman of the association, Mr Patrick Okoh, said that the visit was to strengthen their relationship with the command.

There are ethics that drives our reports and we are here to help our intelligence gathering to make sure that the state is secured.

“Though, we are having problem of security in the state at the moment but I believe that it will soon be over.

“Working in synergy with the command will help in fighting the recent insecurity in the state,’’ Okoh said.

He said that the association was ready to assist the command in fighting crime in the state, saying that the association had so much respect for the corps.
