Reps committee chairman on emergency congratulates new NEMA DG

The Chairman of House of Representatives  Committee on Emergency and Disaster Preparedness, Rep. Tunji Olawuyi Ajuloopin, has congratulated the newly appointed Director-General (DG) of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), retired AVM Muhammadu Alhaji Muhammed.

Ajuloopin felicitated with the new NEMA DG in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen on Sunday in Omu-Aran, Kwara, by his Senior Legislative Aide (SLA), Mr Lanre Agas.

He said the appointment was expected to bring innovation and a new direction to NEMA, adding that as a former military officer, he would bring his wealth of experience to the agency.

It would be recalled that the Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Willie Bassey, on Saturday announced the approval and appointment of Muhammed with effect from Thursday, April 30, by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Ajuloopin, who represents Ekiti, Isin, Irepodun and Oke-Ero Federal Constituency of Kwara on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said he looked forward to a robust working relationship with the new DG with a view to attending to emergency matters in the country.

The lawmaker urged Nigerians to avoid any act capable of causing flooding in the country as we approached the rainy season.

He  commended the immediate past NEMA DG, Mr Mustapha Maihaja, for his service to the country, while calling on the new appointee to serve with diligence and commitment.

Ajolopiin further stressed the need for a cordial relationship between the agency and the house committee on emergency preparedness to move the country forward.

He expressed optimism that the new NEMA boss would bring dynamism and reposition the agency for the greater good of the country.
