Bringing development to Oshodi my commitment—Lagos lawmaker

Mr Hakeem Sokunle, a two-term member representing Oshodi/Isolo Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday said that his commitment was to bring developments to the area..

Sokunle, the Chairman, House Committee on Healthcare Services, disclosed this to newsmen during an inspection tour to various projects in the constituency.

“There are still more to come, I have dedicated myself to this, bringing development to Oshodi is my job.

“I may not have executive power or budgetary allocation for this as a lawmaker, but whichever way I can use my position to facilitate development to my people, I will do.

“This is my commitment to my people, I will continue to do it as long as I remain in office.

‘What you have witnessed today is little compared to what I have done, come on Thursday during our stakeholders’ meeting and hear the testimonies of my people,” the lawmaker said.

The lawmaker said that apart from facilitating roads rehabilitation, he had also sunk bore-hole in many streets in Oshodi to put a stop to endless search for water among residents.

According to him, some streets that have benefited from the bore-hole include Ishola Daniel, Igbehinadun, Oseni Ewu, Fabukade, Aremo Olatunbosun, Ogunkoya, Wabi Larinde among others.

He added that he had also provided toilet facilities to Ajumoni Central Mosque among others.

Meanwhile, several residents took turns to commend the lawmaker’s developmental strides in the constituency during the inspection, describing Sokunle as God- sent to the people.

They applauded Sokunle for facilitating rehabilitation of some major roads within Oshodi -Isolo which includes Adeyemi St., Ishola Daniel St., Adejumonbi St., Agoijaye, Old Ewu road Mafoluku, and Ogunoloko St..

Other roads they commended the lawmaker for included: Baderin St., Adesanya St., Oyegoke St., Raliat Memud St.,  St Paul St., Oludegun Ave.,  among others.

Speaking to newsmen, the Education Secretary of Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Education Authority,  Mr Olufemi Ogunwusi, who decried the deplorable state of roads, lauded the efforts of the lawmaker.

According to him, due to the condition of roads, students’ access to schools has been with some hitches.

Another resident, Mrs Aduni Oladipupo of Ogunoloko St. said, “We want to appreciate Hon. Olusola Sokunle for the rehabilitation of this road which has improved economic activities in this axis.”

The Head Teacher, Local Government Primary School, Orile Oshodi Mr Olufemi Ajayi, also commended the lawmaker’s efforts at facilitating road rehabilitation.
