‘Non-perfoming contracts will be revoked’

The Lagos State Government has warned that it would revoke the contract of any ongoing jetty construction project that fails to provide safe water transportation for residents.

The Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Hamed Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

Abdullahi was quoted to have said this during an inspection tour of the ongoing Very Important Persons chalet jetty project in Badagry.

He said, “The state government will not hesitate to revoke the contract and blacklist any non-performing contractor that tends to derail its plans of upgrading and providing safe, modern and easy water transportation for the citizens of the state.

“I, therefore, urge all the contractors working for the ministry to buckle up and deliver quality projects that will stand the test of time in line with the state’s THEMES agenda for prompt service delivery to the people.”

Abdullahi added that the state plans to complete the jetties across the state for effective water transportation.

“The spread of these jetties across the length and breadth of Lagos State, when completed, will birth a landmark achievement of effective water transportation that will open up the riverine communities in Lagos State and impact positively on economic activities as well as the well-being of residents. We are doing everything to achieve this vision,” he said.
