Delta approves completion, construction and rehabilitation of DLA Road, 69 others 2

The Delta Government has approved the completion of the construction of the Direct Labour Agency (DLA) Road in Asaba the state capital and 69 other roads across the state.

The state Commissioner for Information, Chief Patrick Ukah, told journalists on Thursday in Asaba, that the approvals were part of the decisions at the State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.

Ukah who said Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa presided over the meeting added that construction works were expected to commence at the various sites soonest.

He said government decided take advantage of the dry season to construct and rehabilitate 70 roads across the three Senatorial Districts and embark on additional massive infrastructural development.

According to him the roads included,  Biose-Amantu and Ikuku-Adindu roads with sewage, Vitalis Okakwu and three critical adjourning streets that link DLA to Jesus Saves Road in Asaba.

“They include the Cletus Achi Way-Marble Hill School Road with a spur to Holy Family Catholic Church Road, Okpanam, Oshimili North LGA.

“Others are the maintenance of Uti Road/U- Turn at Ugbomro, maintenance of Airport-DDPA Road Refinery Junction, PTI-Jakpa Road in Effurun and the failed portions at Ekpan in Uvwie LGA,’ he said.

Also approved were the rehabilitation of Old Ovie Palace Road, construction of Atsiangbe-Okodaso Street and reconstruction of Edo Guest House Road, Ekpan in Uvwie LGA.

Ukah said that the council approved the rehabilitation of failed roads in Warri, including Emebirhen Road, Cinema Site Roundabout, Giwa-Amu and Edah Street, Alabera Ugborikoko, Shell Contractors Road, and Pessu Market, off Market Road.

The commissioner listed other roads to include Orerokpe Road, Ohrue-Esezi Road, Ometan Street to link Omare Street, Catholic Mission Road, off Eku-Abraka Road.

“Also approved for construction are the streets adjoining Asaba-Okpanam Road (from Legislative Quarters to Okpanam by Post Office) in Oshimili North.

“The Streets are Omafuvwe Ambrose with spurs to Mariere, Onyia and Thomson Fregene, Franklin Bardi and Ogelue Chukwurah, among other roads and streets across the state,” he said.

He said that the council also approved the construction, furnishing and equipping of the science laboratory at the Model Secondary School, Uzere, Isoko South LGA.

The commissioner said the variation of the contract for shore wall protection, sand filling and piling of Ode-Itsekiri community, Warri South LGA was also approved.

He said government also approved the contract for the second phase of outstanding works at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium, Asaba.

Also approved was the renovation and remodeling of the Clinical Building, Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area (LGA)
