DPR calls on marketers to desist from creating artificial scarcity of petroleum products

By Thompson ABISOLA

The Department of Petroleum Resource (DPR) Gombe Field, has called on the independent marketers to desist from creating artificial scarcity of petroleum products during the yuletide.

Operations Comptroller,  Mr Abdullahi Abawa, made the call while briefing newsmen on Thursday in Gombe.

He said the present administration had done everything possible to ensure availability of the product all over the country.

“So please, we don’t want any artificial scarcity of products because we are not going to take it lightly with any marketer who engages in diversion, sales above official pump price, under dispensing and tampering of pumps.

“We are going to go round for surveillance, if any marketer does not sleep, the DPR will not sleep because we are going to launch serious surveillance,” he said.

He then advised the Liquefied Petroleum and Gas Product (LPG) dealers to obtain approval from DPR for the safety of their operations and success of their businesses.

According to him, people are at risk and it is not appropriate to operate without approval because of the hazards associated with the LPG.
