By Aliyu DANLADI

Some Christian clerics on Saturday distributed over 100 Arabic reading slates, and other materials to boost Arabic studies at Almajirai schools in Kaduna.

The gesture was facilitated by a team of  Christian clerics headed by Pastor Yohanna Buru.

Buru told newsmen in Kaduna that the gesture was to strengthen better understanding, mutual and peaceful co-existance among muslims and Christians in Kaduna State.

According to him, 100 Arabic reading slates where distributed to some Quranic schools in Rigasa,  Bakin,  Ruwa and Mando and some parts of Igabi Local Government Area.

Buru said the idea of such exercise was informed by his desire to continue to advocate for peaceful co-existance, religious tolerance, love and brotherliness among Muslims and Christians in the states.

He urged muslims and Christians in the country to remain as an indivisible entity, for the attainment of peace and unity .

Buru also charged religious and community leaders to continue to preach peace in the society,

Buru said  ”the church cannot forget what a muslim woman, Hajiya Ramatu Tijani did, when she gave not less than 50 bibles to them”.

“The same woman shared wrappers, cloths and food items to Christian widows and orphans, to celebrate Christmas and New Year.

The cleric said they were sharing only 110 arabic reading slates,100 inks and over 100 other study materials to the almajiral Arabic schools, to support the education”

He, however, called on UNESCO,UNICEF and the Federal Government to support the education of Almajirai.

Responding , an Islamic Cleric, Mallam Lawal Madura, The Galadiman Tudun- Wada,  commended the foresight of the pastor for his initiative in promoting unity, peace and understanding among muslims and Christians in the state.

Receiving the items,  the representative of the school thanked the pastor for the Initiative, which is aimed at promoting interfaith and religious tolerance.

Malam Bala Haruna, one the clerics , who received the gifts on behalf of the school said,  that was the first time, that Christian clerics visited the school and gave them.

He commended the Christian clerics for the effort and stressed the need for every one to support the education of the young boys.
