NDA to graduate 63O Regular Cadets Oct. 5

The Nigeran Defence Academy says 630 cadet of its regular course will pass out on Oct. 5.

During the event at the academy in Kaduna, President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to commission the cadets into the Nigeria Armed Forces.

The Deputy Commandant of NDA, AVM Ismail Kaita made the announcement on Wednesday at a press briefing in Kaduna.

Kaita said the forthcoming combined Passing Out Parade (POP) was for cadets of the 66 Regular Course Army, 67 Regular Course Navy and Air Force and Short Service Course 45 Army.

“The graduation is slated to hold on Oct. 5 at the Nigerian Defence Academy Parade Ground here at Afaka, Kaduna.

“I am glad to announce that the Commander-In-Chief, President Muhammadu Buhari will be physically present to grace this year’s events,” he said.

Kaita said that traditionally, the POP at the Academy was preceded by a number of key activities.

“In this regard, the activities for this year’s Passing Out Parade commenced on Sept. 14 with the Commandant hosting the cadets to a lunch at the Academy House.

“Subsequently, the Academy’s medical team will organize a medical outreach for the Dankande community located on Kaduna-Zaria way on Sept. 19.

“Also, a golf kitty will hold on Sept. 21 at the recently upgraded and remodeled NDA Golf Course at 7.00 am.

“On Sept. 24, the Academy will hold a Prize Giving and Beating of the Retreat Ceremony at the NDA Parade Ground, Afaka by 3.00 pm.

“This event typifies the official close of training activities for the year and provides a platform to reward cadets who have distinguished themselves throughout the training year,” he said.

Kaita said that on Sept. 27, there would be Friday prayers in honour of the cadets by the Muslim Ummah at the NDA Central Mosque.

He said that on Sunday, Sept. 29, Christians would converge at The Saviour’s Chapel, Afaka for a Christian Interdenominational Church Service.

“Hence, we urge members of the public to also commit the cadets in their prayers during various prayers and services across the country,” Kaita said.

He said NDA would host a convocation lecture for 67 Regular Course cadets and Post Graduate students on Oct. 2  at Prof. Mahmud Yakubu Hall.

Kaita said the lecture would be delivered by Prof. Elias Bogoro, the Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund.

He said the POP activities would continue on Oct. 3, with the convocation ceremony for cadets of 67 Regular Course and Postgraduate students at the Academy’s auditorium by 10.00am.

“The event will be graced by the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo who will be the Special Guest of Honour.

“During the event, honourary degrees will be awarded to some distinguished Nigerians,” Kaita announced.

The Deputy commandant reminded members of the public that entry into NDA premises on graduation day was strictly by valid invitation.
