Coronavirus: NCAA takes steps to protect workforce

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has taken steps to protect its workforce against the scourge of coronavirus outbreak in the country.

Its The General Manager, Public Relations, Mr Samuel Adurogboye,  said this in a statement in Lagos on Thursday.

Adurogboye said NCAA had issued detailed guidelines for its workforce who had recently travelled abroad to self-isolate for 14 days among sundry other measures upon their return to the country.

“This is a directive for the compilation of details of all NCAA staff already on any official assignments or training to a country where there is community transmission of COVID-19.

“This is to be forwarded to the office of the NCAA Director-General and the General Manager, Aero Medical Standards.

“As a corollary, all pending inspections, training and various exchange programmes involving foreign trips are suspended forthwith,’’ he stated.

Adurogboye added that NCAA had also directed that the 2020 Promotion Exercise for staff scheduled to hold on April 4 be suspended till further notice.

He said the postponement was in line with advice given by the World Health Organisation (WHO) for organisations to avoid large gatherings as part of precautionary measures to curb the spread of the virus.

NCAA enjoined all travelling public and other stakeholders to comply with all directives issued to curb the spread of the global pandemic.
