Reps increase 2020 revised budget to N10.805 trillion

The House of Representatives on Wednesday increased the revised 2020 budget sent to it by President Muhammadu Buhari to N10.805 trillion.

The President had presented a revised 2020 appropriation of N10.59 trillion to the National Assembly for approval.

The budget as approved by the House indicate that the budget for the National Assembly was retained at N128 billion as contained in the original 2020 budget passed in December 2019 as against the N115 billion contained in the revised budget.

Considering the budget on the floor of the House, the lawmakers included N4 billion vote to address the greviances of Resident Doctors who are threatening to embark on industrial action, thereby increasing the figure submitted to the House by the Finance Committee.

Lagos Judiciary upgrades electronic filing system with E-Payment

The Lagos State Judiciary has upgraded its Electronic Filing System (EFS) through E-Payment.

The new initiative is contained in a circular dated June 4, titled “Public Notice” and signed by the Chief Registrar, Mrs Olubusola Okunuga.

The circular stated that the new development is to ensure a faster approach to filing and processing of cases.

It is also to ensure a reduction in the number lawyers and litigants visiting the High Court Registry in line view the social distance regulations.

The circular stated that E-filing support help lines and emails have been provided for the various judicial divisions in Lagos including Ikeja, Lagos, Ikorodu, Epe, and Badagry, to assist counsel with the process.

It stated in part :”This is to inform the general public that the Lagos State Judiciary has upgraded the Judiciary Information System (E-filing) by introducing E-Payment for faster filing and processing of cases, without the need to visit the High Court Registry.

The notice also provides that Payment is mandatory for the E-Filling System and that same can be processed by visiting https://lagos.ebs-rcm.com/

“Please note that payer ID is mandatory for E-filing. If you do not have payer ID, it can be obtained instantly during filing or through the State Revenue Website: https://lagos.ebs-rcm.com/ please click on ‘self-service’.
