The Accident Investigation Bureau, Nigeria has explained why the report of the investigation into the crash involving the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, has not been submitted.
Attahiru and 11 others died in an air crash in Kaduna on May 21.
On May 22, the AIB-N in a statement by the General Manager for Public Affairs, Tunji Oketunbi, said it had commenced investigation into the crash.
The Commissioner, AIB-N, Akin Olateru, had on July 9 disclosed that the bureau would submit the report to NAF the following week.
He added that it was not within the bureau’s purview to make its finding public, saying that NAF would decide on what to do with the report.
But the General Manager, Public Affairs, AIB, Tunji Oketunbi, in an interview with our correspondent on Wednesday, said the report being mentioned was the preliminary findings into the cause of the crash and not the final report.
