Soludo is Anambra State Govenor-elect

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in the governorship election in Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has been declared the Governor-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor emerged winner after clearly defeating his closest rivals of the Peoples Democractic Party (PDP), Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, and Senator Andy Uba of All Progressives Congress (APC).

Announcing the results in the early hours of Wednesday, November 11, 2021, the Returning Officer of the election, Professor Florence Obi, declared Soludo Governor-elect of Anambra State having polled a total of 112,229 votes. He won 19 of the 21 local government areas in Anambra State.

Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party followed with a total of 53,807 votes, while Senator Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC), came third having polled a total of 43,285 votes.

The victorious Soludo was all smiles after being declared the Governor-elect. He thanked all the stakeholders who made his victory possible including Anambra people, the party, the church, traditional rulers, INEC and the security agencies. He reiterated his commitment to his campaign promises. He also said the three policemen that were killed by unknown gunmen during his campaign will not be forgotten.

The former National Chairman of APGA and the party’s agent for the governorship poll, Senator Victor Umeh, said the 2021 governorship election was the best ever, transparent and peaceful, and thanked the INEC security agencies for a job well done. He thanked Anambra people for coming out en masse to vote their dear party.

The agent of APC, however, refused to sign the result, noting that signing it means the party agreed with the processes and outcome of the election. He said the next line of action will be made know after the meeting of the leaders of the party.
