Pray for Prosperous Years Ahead, Bauchi Gov Urges Christians

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has urged Christian communities in the state to use the period of the 2021 Christmas celebration to reflect seriously on the routine spiritual deeds in the last one year and pray to God for a better and prosperous Nigeria.

The governor in his Goodwill message yesterday, tasked Christian brothers and sisters to extend hands of fraternity and fellowship to the adherents of other religions and to equally reflect on the life and times of Jesus Christ who used his lifetime to preach peace, honesty, love and tolerance for the maintenance of peace and security of mankind.

He said that, “these are indeed virtues that people are expected to emulate irrespective of their religious beliefs. Christmas period should be an opportunity for Christians to cultivate the habit of love, respect and harmonious relationships with other members of the society.”

He reiterated the need for mutual understanding and respect for one another as well as peaceful coexistence among other various groups.

According to him, “I want to use this auspicious occasion to on behalf of myself and the entire people of Bauchi State, extend my warm and sincere gratitude and goodwill to Christian brothers and sisters.”

He also said that the primary objective of any responsible government was to ensure the security of lives and property of its citizens which he said his administration in collaboration with security agencies are committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property of all people residing in the state.

“The provision of infrastructural facilities across the state is aimed at stabilising and strengthening the economic status of the state to become one of the states that has a strong economic base in the country,” the governor said.

He said his administration was ready to provide the political will that would lead the state to the promised land and therefore all programmes initiated and executed by the government are aimed at taking the majority of the people of the state out of poverty .

The governor applauded the support of citizens to his government since its inception and promised to continue to reciprocate the gesture by embarking on policies and programmes that have direct bearing on the lives of the people .

He appealed to all and sundry to support and cooperate with the state government by giving useful information on criminals and criminal activities in the state .

He then prayed that the occasion would be observed peacefully and wished all Christians a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
