NBET seeks media collaboration for enhanced reportage of power sector

Managing Director, Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), Mr Nnaemeka Ewelukwa, says collaboration with the media will enhance effective reportage of the power sector.

Ewelukwa said this in Lagos on Thursday at a 2-Day Capacity Building Workshop for members of Power Correspondents of Nigeria (PCAN) and Civil Society Organisation.

The theme of the workshop is, “Building Knowledge & Plugging Skills Gap in Power Sector Reporting”.

Ewelukwa said that engaging the media in the power sector reportage was important as this would enable them report from the point of knowledge.

“Actively engaging the media is important; journalists don’t work in your organisation and power is critical, so it must be reported accurately.

“So a forum like this will encourage accurate reporting and understanding of the power sector.

“It will also enhance the understanding of NBET role in the power sector and allow a better working relationship.

Ewelukwa said the workshop would enable participants to be more equipped in reporting the sector.

Earlier, Ms Henrietta Ighommore, Head of Corporate Communications, NBET said the workshop was put in place to equip journalist on how NBET and power sector operates.

Ighommore said that papers presented at the workshop would deepen participants  knowledge in reporting the sector adequately.
