A Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted two officials of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Mohammed Adamu and Okoro Eunice Udokanmma.
They were charged with falsification of tax documents.
Justice Inyang Ekwo yesterday convicted the two on the five counts contained in the charge marked: FHCABJ/CR/86/2010.
Ekwo held that the prosecution sufficiently proved its case against the defendants through its six witnesses and several exhibits tendered.
The judge convicted Adamu on counts 1,2, 3, 4 and 5 and sentenced him to three months in relation to count 1 and one year in relation to each of the other four counts.
The sentences are to run concurrently beginning from April 27, 2022.
Eunice Udokanmma was convicted on counts 1, 3, 4 and 5 and sentenced to three months on count one and one year on the other counts, effective from April 13, 2010 having earlier served two years in jail.
The two were convicted of falsifying personal income tax clearance certificates for some individuals.
