NERC commends EEDC for consistent transformation, employment of professionals

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has commended the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) for its consistent effort towards actualisation of its sustainability and transformation agenda for greater efficiency.

This is contained in a statement issued in Enugu on Friday by EEDC’s Head of Communications, Mr Emeka Ezeh, after the company’s Chairman, Dr Emeka Offor, led executive management team on a courtesy call on NERC on Thursday in Abuja.

Ezeh said that the commendation was made by the Chairman NERC, Mr Sanusi Garba, when he received the EEDC delegation in his office.

He said that the NERC Chairman extolled Offor for strengthening the management team of EEDC with the appointment of experienced professionals in the industry.

The EEDC spokesman said that Offor used the opportunity to formally introduce the company’s new Management Executive to the Commission, following recent appointment of Dr Ernest Mupwaya as its Executive Director in-charge of Technical and Operations.

Ezeh noted that Mupwaya is bringing on board his over 30 years of experience garnered in the electricity industry, part of which is his stint as the Managing Director, ZESCO, Zambia.

The EEDC spokesman said that Mupwaya was also the Commercial Director, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), where he was later elevated to the position of Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Members of the EEDC executive management team that visited Garba included the Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Praveen Chorghade, and the Executive Director, Business Finance and Administration, Mr. Paul Okeke.

Others are Chief Technical Officer, Mr Vincent Ekwekwu, and the Chief Operating Officer, Mr Maruthi Mallepalli.
