Massive diversion of Osun Govt’s assets, vehicles, Gov Adeleke issues ultimatum

The newly elected Governor of Osun has directed officials appointed by the former administration in the state to return government properties in their possession within 48 hours as a result of massive diversion of such properties.

Governor Adeleke in a statement by his spokesperson said the directive became imperative due to large-scale diversion of government assets by top officials of the immediate past administration.

“Several official vehicles are missing while official records indicate that two-thirds of former state officials left with a fleet of cars in their offices.

“Most ministries, departments, and agencies were stripped of operational assets like vehicles, computers, and even residential fittings. Some top officials’ residences were similarly pillaged, even down to the lamp fitting,” the statement revealed.

The current government warned that any former official who failed to comply with the directive would be made prosecuted.

However, the Osun State Director of Operations, All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Sunday Akere, said the current administration appeared uncoordinated.

“You set up panel on this same asset matter on Wednesday. Is it that another committee has been set up in the office of the governor?  They should be specific and we will respond appropriately,” Akere said.
