Boat capsizes in Lagos, passengers rescued

 

A ferry with 17 passengers en route Ebute Ero from Ikorodu in Lagos State capsized on Monday, according to the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA).

The General Manager, Mr Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, said in a statement in Lagos that the incident happened at about 7:a.m.

He said that the incident, which occurred around the Third Mainland Bridge, close to Bariga ferry terminal, involved a commercial passenger ferry named Fazma logistics.

Emmanuel said that all the passengers were, however, rescued by first responders including officers of the LASWA.

He said that the boat was recovered immediately while the boat captain was being interrogated and investigation ongoing
