TotalEnergies powers 250 filling stations with solar
TotalEnergies has said 50 per cent of its more than 500 filling stations scattered across the country run on solar energy.
The Deputy Manager of Deepwater, TotalEnergies E&P, Victor Bandele, revealed this at the just concluded Nigerian International Energy Summit held in Abuja.
Speaking during a session themed ‘Building Energy of the Future’, Bandele explained that running half of its stations on solar energy was part of its contributions to green energy and support towards Nigeria’s realisation of its 2060 zero carbon emission agenda.
Bandele disclosed that the company was working towards ending routine gas flaring by the end of 2023.
Bandele said the company also planned to boost its gas production, adding that it had met both its gas obligations to the Federal Government and the Nigerian market.
According to him, the company is ready to bridge the huge gap between Nigeria’s vast gas resources and delivering gas into the Nigerian market through investment in the production of more gas for local utilisation.
“We have met our gas obligations to the Federal Government, and we are also working on onshore projects to deliver more sustainable gas into the market,” he said.
The international energy firm also clinched two awards at the conference- Industry Revolution Award presented to the company by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Amb. Gabriel Aduda.
The other award was presented to the company by the Nigerian Gas Association in recognition of its contributions to the realisation of the Decade of Gas Aspiration 2021/2022.
