Team Nigeria’s men disqualified from Olympics 4x400m relay

The quartet of Emmanuel Ojeli, Ezekiel Nathanial, Dubem Amene and Chidi Okezie, have been disqualified from the men’s 4x400m relay at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Friday.

The men’s team had finished 2nd in their semi-final heat with a season’s best of 2:59.81.

However, the referee disqualified Team Nigeria when one of them impeded a South African athlete following a changeover.

Consequently, the South African men’s team took the spot to the final.

Botswana — the bronze medallists at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, finished first in their heat (and overall) with a top time of 2:57.76. They’ll be joined by Great Britain, the United States, Japan, France, Belgium, Zambia, Italy and South Africa.
