Celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, on Friday officially began her attempt to cook the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

Baci, who in 2023 set the record for the longest cooking marathon, is hosting the “Gino Jollof Festival” in partnership with seasoning and culinary brand, Gino.

The historic event, features a custom-made pot measuring six metres wide and six metres tall into which 250 bags of rice will be cooked.

Moments before she lit the burners, the lead pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre, Bolaji Idowu, prayed for Baci and blessed the effort.

Social media influencers including Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Tomike Adeoye, Folagade Banks, and Veekee James were also on ground to cheer her on.

The event has pulled massive crowds, with Gen Zs, millennials, food lovers, and celebrities thronging the venue.

According to the organisers, more than 20,000 people registered to attend the festival, which is free and open to the public.

Baci has also assured attendees that the meal will be “amazing and hygienic,” promising a record-breaking experience of Nigerian jollof rice.
