Commuters were left stranded on Tuesday morning, while others resorted to trekking, as heavy gridlock disrupted traffic flow along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and the Sagamu-Benin highway.
The gridlock was said to be due to a partial road closure at the Sagamu Interchange section of the busy road as a result of ongoing construction.
A driver who identified himself simply as Mr Ade said the gridlock, which our correspondent sighted from the Sagamu Interchange, had stretched to the Ogere Remo area around Animal Care.

Our correspondent also observed that the traffic snarl from the interchange section had almost extended to the Sagamu Junction end of the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode-Benin Expressway.
Mr Kola Tijani, who was on his way to Ibadan, had to turn back at the Sagamu Interchange to use an alternative route from Siun
He said, “I have just been told to go and use the alternative route, that is, Siun to Ogere. I am on my way to Ibadan, only for me to get to the Sagamu Interchange and find everywhere blocked.
“It is really annoying. I was told it is the partial closure of the road by the company handling the ongoing road reconstruction.
“I think there is the need for the company to review its operations and not just be subjecting people to avoidable pains all the time.”
