Women protest over hunger, cost of living, in Minna, Niger State

Some women, on Monday morning, took to the street and blocked the Kpagungu axis of Minna-Bida Road in the Niger State capital city, protesting against hunger and high cost of living.
The women, carrying a placard with the inscription “No food, we are dying of hunger”, demanded a better condition of living and reduction in cost of living for the citizenry.
They accused political office-holders of insensitivity to their plight even as they lamented inability to feed even once in a day.
The protest has caused traffic gridlock on the Minna-Bida Road, which is a link road to the South-West part of the country from the North-Central.
Our correspondent reports that there was commotion at the scene of the protest as at the time of this report as policemen fired teargas canisters to disperse the protesters.
