NDE trains 600 persons under Advanced Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Kano State has trained no fewer than 600 persons under the Advanced Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (A&B NOAS) from January to date.

NDE state coordinator, Malam Iliyasu Ahmad, made this known in a statement made available in Kano on Thursday.

He said that 400 beneficiaries were resettled under the A&B NOAS of vocational skill development department during the year under review.

He said that 36 beneficiaries were also trained and resettled under Agricultural Enhancement scheme (AES) in addition to 48 beneficiaries that were resettled under Food Processing and Parking (FFP).

“60 beneficiaries were trained and resettled under the Agricultural Value Chain (AVC) all of Rural Employment Promotion Department,” he said.

He said in addition, 2,110 beneficiaries were resettled under Micro Enterprise Enhancement Scheme (MEES), while artisans trained under Basic Business Training (BBT) and 50 beneficiaries under women Employment Programme (WEP) were equally resettled in the same period under review.

According to him, the agency had disbursed N5 million to one person under Matured People Programme (MPP) all under the Small Scale Employment Department.

He said under the Special Public Works Department, the Directorate had trained 50 participants under the Environmental Beautification Scheme (EBTS).

He said that 13 persons were selected to be resettled later and 22 graduates were given the opportunity to have an attachment programme with some organisations with the hope for retaining them as permanent staff.

“In this course the NDE gave them allowances of N18, 000 per month for three months,” the state coordinator added.
