NDDC to complete ongoing projects in 9 states – ED

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has said it is making efforts to complete all ongoing road and building projects in nine states of the Niger Delta.

The Executive Director of NDDC, Dr Samuel Adjogbe,  gave the assurance in Port Harcourt on Monday in a statement issued by the commission’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Ibitoye Abosede.

Adjogbe spoke when he led a team of directors and engineers to inspect the repair of Umuelemai-Agbaja Road in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo.

He, however, said the completion of the ongoing projects would depend on funds available to the commission. “We will not rest on our oars to construct quality roads to enable rural dwellers evacuate their farm produce to urban centres.

“The commission will continue to encourage indigenous firms to improve on their capacity to deliver quality projects for the benefit of the people.

“We urge community leaders to cooperate with contractors to ensure that there are no hindrances to meeting NDDC’s target date for completion of the projects,” he said.

Adjogbe commended the contractor handling the Umuelemai-Agbaja road project and called for the cooperation of the community.

The Project Manager of the company handling the road project, Mr Emmet Dooley, said the Umuelemai-Agbaja road would be completed in a fortnight.

Also speaking, Chief Theodore Anosike, the Coordinator of Imo State Development Council, commended NDDC for building quality roads for rural communities in the state.

The statement also said the NDDC team inspected the completed multi-purpose civic centre in Umeze 1 Community, Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of the state.
