By Thompson ABISOLA

The Niger Government has spent about N424 million on the replacement of vandalized 33kva line along Paikoro and Lapai local government areas of the state.

State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe,  made this known  in Minna on Tuesday.

He said that the project has since been completed and power supply restored to the affected areas.

Balarabe explained that already the state government has set in motion modalities to deal decisively with any person or group of people found tampering with public facilities.

“We have reached out to stakeholders, traditional and religious leaders in mobilising residents to volunteers intelligent information on all those involved in the acts,” he said.

The commissioner, therefore, called on community leaders to do more in sensitizing residents to protect public infrastructures in their locality.

He said that it was only by doing so that such facilities sited in the communities would last long.

Balarabe also called on residents to desist from building on high tension lines, so as to prevent any unforeseen circumstances.
