Fiscal Commission team visits NSCDC complex in Ogun, seeks more funding for project

A team from the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) on Friday visited the site of the N230million Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Administrative complex and armoury in Abeokuta
The FRC team led by Mr Ibrahim Dauda was told by the contractor, Mr Femi Olupemi , that the project was 100 per cent completed.
He said that the contract was awarded on March 24, 2017, adding that the company had completed the project and it was ready for usage.
The contractor added that the NSCDC complex has a commandant office, 34 cells, one armoury, clinic,  kitchen and radio room.
” We initially had funding issue but money was later released and the job was done,” he said.
He said that N218,  513,300 was released before the completion of the project, adding that N11, 500, 700 was still outstanding.
Dauda, on his part, said that the mandate of the commission was to ensure prudent management of national resources of the country and to ensure there was value for money, particularly on capital projects.
”We are at the NSCDC Ogun State command new office complex and from what we have seen we have to give kudos to the command and the contractor for a job well done.
”Like any project, there are other things that should be taken note of after the completion of the project; like we have observed there is a need for a drainage system along the office complex.
” ‘By and large, it is a job well done, there is value for money which is the main reason why we are on this inspection- to ensure that there is value for money and I will say kudos to the Federal Government for providing necessary fund to complete this project,” he said.
TBI Africa quoted the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the team also visited the construction site of the access road to NNPC depot, Mosimi, in Sagamu.
Mr Paolo Prono, the contractor handling the project, said that the road was 50 per cent completed, adding that the project was awarded in 2014 .
He,however, said lack of fund was responsible for the delay in the completion.
Responding, Dauda said that the team was satisfied with the level of work done so far, adding that the commission  would recommend to government to provide fund so that the job could be completed on time.
.”They have done a quality job which is at 50 per cent completion and we are satisfied.
” The only aspect we are not satisfied with is funding, ,” he said
