We’ve Zero Vices Tolerance in PAMO University, Says Odili

The Pro Chancellor of the PAMO University of Medical Sciences, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili, has declared that the institution has zero tolerance for any form of vices associated with harassment, cultism, malpractice amongst others.

Dr. Odili who was the former governor of Rivers State, stated this yesterday, during a briefing with journalists at the university, ahead of the first convocation of graduands of the institution slated for today.

Odili was reacting to the reported incessant vices happening in both private and public secondary schools and tertiary institutions, which sometimes led to death of students.

He said the stringent disciplinary measure put in place in PAMO was for the future benefit of the graduands of the institution, who according to him, would positively represent the image of the school in the society.

According to Odili, “You cannot produce good from evil. Those ills that are plaguing some institutions, we do our best not to allow them cross our gate.

“We insist very strongly that we have zero tolerance for all those vices we know harassing our tertiary institutions today in the country. We have zero tolerance for them no matter whose child you are. We do not tolerate malpractices, no room for any form of harassment either from lecturer to students or students to lecturer.”

He added that the institution produces serious minded disciplined adults, assuring that the management is not relenting in the vision of making a difference in contributing to the education sector.

Speaking on the institution which started activities in 2018, Odili said, “This institution is a gift from God because everything that led to the birth of this school and issuance of federal government license to start admitting students happened within 11months.

“Our vision is to be one of the leading tertiary institutions that will produce a new crop of professionals in the medical sector who will not only have the knowledge but will apply the knowledge with a different positive attitude.”

Odili commended Rivers State Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike for contributing to the success of the university, adding that the institution would today, confer the governor a honorary degree award for his contributions in the health sector across the state.

“The success story of this school cannot be told or completed without paying special tribute to the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike. He is the messenger God sent to embrace the idea of the institution and give the face it needed.

“Because of his passion to work for Rivers people, he saw what the school can achieve for the state. Not less than 600 indigenes of Rivers have qualified and admitted into the school at the expense of the state government.

“Governor Wike will be conferred Honorary Degree of Science because of the work he is doing in the health sector of the state,” Odili disclosed.

He also disclosed that the students convocating today are graduands of Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology and Pharmacology.
