18 top directors shortlisted for promotion to perm secs

Eighteen top directors in the Federal Civil Service have been shortlisted for the next stage in the recruitment of permanent secretaries, following an ICT assessment.
This is even as the directors from Bauchi and Ebonyi states missed out, due to failing the assessment.
“The under-listed 18 candidates are invited to the oral interview stage of the process for the appointment of Permanent Secretaries in the Federal Civil Service following their successful performance in Stages 1 and 2 of the exercise,” a memo by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) said.
A total of 85 directors were initially shortlisted for the written assessment, out of which four were absent.
It was gathered that only 20 directors passed the exam and were invited for the next stage, which was the ICT proficiency stage.
According to a memo dated November 7, 2023, and obtained from the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, the 61 directors who failed the examination scored below 50 percent, which disqualified them from the race.
The PUNCH had earlier reported that the recruitment process for new permanent secretaries by the Federal Government would commence on October 9, 2023, according to a circular dated September 25, 2023, which was released by the OHCSF.
Earlier in August, the OHCSF had made a call for directors on Grade Level 17 to apply to fill new and existing vacancies for the position of permanent secretaries.
