NPF awardees’ dedication sets standards for others – Gaidam

The  Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, has stated that the Nigeria Police Force awardees’ dedication has set a standard for others to emulate.

Gaidam said this during the Nigeria Police Awards and Commendation 2nd award ceremony held at the Police Resource Centre Jabi, Abuja.

The Minister noted that their actions embody the highest ideals of policing, protecting lives, upholding justice, and maintaining peace.

“Your commitment not only ensures the safety of our citizens, but also strengthens the very foundations of our democracy.

“As we honor the most outstanding police officer of the year today, let us remember that their achievements are a reflection of the collective spirit of our entire force. They exemplify virtues such as honesty, bravery, and selflessness, qualities that are the bedrock of effective and trusted policing.

“The ceremony is more than just an awards event; it is a sacred acknowledgment of the sacrifices, professionalism, and resilience displayed by our officers every day in the line of duty. It is a celebration of those who have gone above and beyond, demonstrating exceptional courage in crime fighting, exemplary community engagement, unwavering integrity, and unwavering patriotism”.

The Minister reaffirmed the collective commitment to transforming the Nigeria Police Force into a model of excellence and integrity, adding that their stories of sacrifice and resilience serves as shining examples, inspiring hope and reinforcing that true patriotism is expressed through dedicated service, unwavering loyalty, and a steadfast commitment to the nation.

He expressed his deepest gratitude to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to national security.

Gaidam commended the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbuntokun, for his exemplary leadership in organizing this meaningful ceremony.

“Your tenure has been marked by commendable strides, and this event is a testament to your resolve to motivate and uplift our officers.” He said.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, stated that the award process was a rigorous and transparent endeavour to institutionalize merit within the Nigeria police force, adding that nominations came from every state to the remotest outpost in the country.

According to him, “Officers did not apply for recognition, they earned it through uncommon courage, ethics, and conduct, exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication. To all award recipients, you have become a standard bearer of a redefined Nigeria Police Force. Carry the honour with humility and the fierce determination to do more”.

In his goodwill message, the Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa represented by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogala stated that the awards and commendationsare available tools for recognizing and celebrating achievements that will motivate individuals who would promote the culture of excellence, building strong and resilient organizations.
