Group General Manager of Continental Hotel, Karl Hala, has called on Nigerians to own their narrative and showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage to the world to show it’s uniqueness as tourist ‘heaven’
Speaking at a conference themed “People, Culture and Infrastructure Building, Inclusive Tourism Models for Nigeria’s Growth” organised by Business Day Media, Hala emphasized the importance of perception in shaping Nigeria’s tourism industry.
He said: “Nigeria’s biggest barrier to tourism growth is not insecurity or infrastructure, but perception. “People hear ‘Nigeria’ and think risk. But I say: Nigeria is energy, hustle, creativity and vibe.”
Hala whose speech was a call for action for Nigerians to take priority in their cultural heritage and to work towards promoting the country’s tourism potential, urged Nigerians to celebrate their culture, digitize it, and export it to the world.
He emphasized the importance of developing the country’s tourism industry, which has the potential to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economic growth and development.
Lauding the conference organisers for providing a platform for stakeholders in the tourism industry to discuss ways of promoting Nigeria’s tourism potential.
Mr. Hala’s speech which was well-received and appreciated by the audience, for his deep passion and commitment to promoting Nigeria’s cultural heritage equally set the tone for for the stakeholders at the iconic event
He emphasised that the hospitality and tourism industry is not just an economic sector, but a national amplifier stressing that when a guest feels welcome, safe, and inspired — they become an ambassador for Nigeria .
The hospitality egg head called on Nigerians to own their narrative and showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage to the world as one of its major strength in building the tourism industry .
He noted that with the right mindset and commitment, Nigeria can become a major player in the global tourism industry stressing that the country’s rich cultural heritage, beautiful landscapes, and vibrant cities make it an attractive destination for tourists.
