FRSC recovers suspected stolen vehicle in Epe-Ibeju expressway

By Giwa SHILE

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said on Monday that a suspected stolen vehicle was recovered by its patrol team during its operations at Ilemija, on the Ibeju-Epe expressway.

Unit Commander, FRSC at Epe, Mr Tony Ehidiamen, disclosed this in Epe.

He said that the vehicle, a Black Lexus RX 330, with Reg. No. ABC 144 HA, belonging to one Mrs Lydia Olafunmiloye, was recovered in the early hours of Monday, at about 6.30 a.m.

According to him, Mr Tunde Olafunmiloye, the son of the owner of the vehicle, was the one driving the car as at when the incident occurred.

“Olafunmiloye was shot by armed robbers at Victoria Island, while the robbers went away with the vehicle but ran into a deep pothole at Ilamija, on the Epe-Ibeju expressway, where the car was recovered by the FRSC patrol team.

“The team was on early hour patrol this morning and saw the vehicle with three of its tyres lost to dangerous potholes.

“The ignition of the car was still on; the car key was in place, but nobody was inside and it was causing an obstruction on the expressway.

“The car was declared a suspected stolen vehicle and one of our officers called the owner of the vehicle through the particulars found inside it.

“We were made to understand, after a thorough interrogation, that the person driving the car had been shot and was undergoing treatment in a hospital at Victoria Island,’’ he said.

Ehidiamen said that the case would be transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, for further investigation.
