The Africa Safety Award for Excellence (AfriSAFE), a leading platform for promoting safety and health initiatives across Africa, has called for greater commitment to workplace safety by governments and businesses across Africa.
In a statement, Chief Executive Officer of AfriSAFE, Femi Da-silva said that commitment to workplace safety has positive knock-on effects, including reduction of business costs and enhancing employee wellbeing.
According to Da-silva, AfriSAFE 2024 is poised to recognize and celebrate individuals, groups and organizations leading the charge of entrenching workplace safety and environmental sustainability across Africa.
He announced the commencement of nominations for the AfriSAFE 2024 event, while encouraging the public to nominate deserving individuals and organizations.
The AfriSAFE CEO said the month-long nomination process commenced on April 28 in commemoration of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
He said AfriSAFE 2024 event would take place in the “picturesque country of Zambia”.
The statement reads: “It promises an unparalleled experience against the backdrop of Zambia’s rich cultural heritage and natural wonders. Zambia, renowned for its breathtaking Victoria Falls, stands as a beacon of natural beauty and adventure, making it an ideal setting for this year’s event.
“Nominees and organizations participating in AfriSAFE 2024 can anticipate a stimulating environment conducive to networking and collaboration, set amidst Zambia’s tourist-friendly facilities. The event is endorsed by various organizations including the Ministry of Tourism, Labor and Social Security of Zambia.
