In Kigawa State 44 new cases were confirmed while Zamfara and Bauchi recorded new 19 cases each.

NCDC announced 11 new cases in Katsina while it announced nine new cases in Borno. Kwara State had eight new cases and Kaduna State confirmed seven new cases.

The coronavirus also spread to Gombe with six new cases and Ogun State also got five new cases while Sokoto got four new cases.

Oyo and Rivers states had three new cases while Niger state got two. Akwa Ibom, Enugu and Plateau recorded one new case each.

A total of 3,526 cases have now been recorded in 34 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).

The number of fatalities increased from 103 to 107, while recoveries increased from 534 to 601.

The increase in the number of cases over the past few weeks has been attributed to increased testing.

While there have been concerns about the number of tests carried out, Chikwe Ihekweazu, said that the figures released as number of tests done does not fully reflect the work that goes on in the laboratories.

Speaking on Thursday at the presidential task force on COVID-19 briefing, he said the figures released do not reflect repeated tests.
