Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Malaysia, Dr Hajara Salim, has formally presented her Letter of Credence to the Head of State, Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Salim equally presented her Letter of Credence to the King of Malaysia, Sultan Abdullah Al Mustapha Billah Shah, according to a statement issued by the Embassy of Nigeria in Kuala Lumpur, on Saturday.
Appointed High Commissioner to Malaysia and Brunei in February 2021, Salim was unable to present her Letters of Credence earlier, due to COVID-19 protocols, the statement said.
“Presenting the letter at the Royal Palace of Istana Negara, the Nigeria’s Principal Envoy extended President Muhammadu Buhari’s warm felicitation and gratitude for the country’s hospitality and friendship.
“After the brief ceremony, Salim and Abdullah discussed issues of mutual benefit and restated commitment towards strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations”, it said.
The statement noted that Salim was accompanied to the ceremony, the first official engagement in the country, by the Head of Chancery, Musa Godowoli, and other officials of the embassy.
The statement added that Salim was also expected to present a letter of concurrent accreditation to the Sultan of Brunei on a later date.
