‘Super Eagles win: We played with passion, confidence’

Enugu State Commissioner of Sports, Joseph Udedi, has hailed the Super Eagles for playing with passion and confidence to subdue the StrakkamirOkkar (Our Boys) of Iceland at the ongoing World Cup.

TBI Africa reports that the Super Eagles resurged with a brace from Ahmed Musa in the second half to beat Iceland 2-0 on Friday.

TBI Africa also report that with the win, the Super Eagles have moved from bottom to second place in Group D at Russia 2018.

Udedi said in Enugu that Nigeria’s Super Eagles now had high hopes of qualifying to the Round of 16.He said it was refreshing that Nigeria defeated Iceland in the tensed match.

“We thank God for granting us the grace and opportunity to defeat Iceland and remain in contention in the ongoing World Cup.The Super Eagles played with passion and confidence today and the result was three maximum points and our first win in the fiesta.

“There is high hope that we will make it to the round of 16 as we are the second team in Group D now.“We will continue to support the Super Eagles with our prayers and advice as usual in our next match with Argentina,’’ he said.

The commissioner, however, commended the new fighting spirit Ahmed Musa and KelechiIheanacho injected into the team, “this is helping to fire up every player in the team’’.

TBI Africa reports that the Super Eagles will play their last Group D match with Albiceleste of Argentina on Tuesday, June 26.
