The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) says petrol will soon be made available at filling stations in the affected states.
Chairman, Board of Directors of IPMAN, Alhaji Abdulkadir Aminu, gave the assurance, on Wednesday, in a statement in Abuja.
Aminu, who hinted that the supply of PMS had started in earnest in Abuja, urged Nigerians not to engage in panic buying due to the current scarcity of the product in some of the distribution outlets.
He attributed the scarcity to the recent protests by the youth across the country to demand an end to police brutality.
According to Aminu, the scarcity will not last for more than another five days.
“I am not surprised to see the queues on Monday in Abuja and some other states where it was reported because of obvious reasons.
“As we can recall, the events of the recent time had disrupted a lot of things in the country, and one of the immediate outcome of the recent rallies across the country is the scarcity of petroleum products at distribution outlets across the country.
“It is not due to unavailability of the products or artificial scarcity by marketers of the products because there is no valid reason to engage in such act as patriotic businessmen and women who are doing their bit to contribute to nation building,” he said.
Aminu, who is also the Group Executive Director, NIPCO Plc, assured that the current queue at filling stations would soon fade away.
